Here is to 2014

In years past, I have always started out the new year with the intention of following through with all of my new years resolutions with full force. Unfortunately, in years past, my gung-ho attitude lasts until about the end of January. But today, I was filled with some hope. Josh and I went home teaching and he shared a lesson given by President Uchtdorf titled, "The Best Time to Plant a Tree". In it, President Uchtdorf talks about the importance of goal setting. He talks about how easy it is to delay our goal setting and how many of us procrastinate the day we begin and give up after we miss just one day. I feel like that describes me to a tee. But Josh shared a quote from him that says, "[A] thing we need to remember when it comes to setting goals is this: We almost certainly will fail-at least in the short term." It seems like a discouraging statement, but I felt it give me hope.
Even though I am not perfect at goal setting, I can try today and try again tomorrow. In the talk, President Uchtdorf mentions an old proverb that says, "The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second-best time is now."
So, here I sit, at the beginning of 2014, planting what seems like my 20th tree. My goal is to keep an updated post of my sweet family, our whereabouts, and happenings. This year is bound to be full of adventure with babies on the way, Josh's graduation, a big move to Arizona and the beginning of our journey into parenthood. So, here is to adventure, following through with my goals and the ambition to plant more trees.
